Student Learning Initiatives Staff

Assistant Dean of Student Learning Initiatives: Merrick Marino (USD '96 M.Ed., '03 M.B.A.)

Merrick is currently co-chair of the university-wide First Year Experience Committee.  He also supervises the Office of Student Learning Initiatives (OSLI), including the Academic Assistance Planning/Peer Advising program, FRESH@USD program, and FYE Online Resources.  Merrick also conducts academic assistance meetings with students and is available to students, parents, and colleagues for general referral information regarding USD student support services.

Assistant Director: Stephanie Bernasconi (USD '08 M.A.)

Stephanie assists with all OSLI functions, including coordinating the FRESH@USD program, FYE Online Resources, and other First Year Experience initiatives.  She also conducts academic assistance meetings with students.

Counseling Center Interns: Isabella Lin-Roark, Afrouz Shaye, and Steven Galvan

Counseling Center Supervisor: Dr. Erinn Tozer

Peer advisors and OSLI advisors provide guidance and support to first- and second-year students on academic probation, are available to students on a walk-in basis for assessment, support and/or referral and provide additional outreach and support to the general student population.
