The Donald P. Shiley Center for Science and Technology is a 150,000 gross square foot facility delineated over four floors. Located on the Southwest corner of the Academic Building Core, it over looks both Mission Bay and San Diego Harbor .

The Center provides state of the art teaching facilities for the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Marine and Environmental Studies. The building layout integrates the science curriculum of these departments and encourages the interaction between faculty and students while promoting a collaborative teaching and learning environment.

Special laboratories include Geographic Information Systems, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Computer Modeling, Hydrodynamics and a 1200 Sq. Ft. Greenhouse located on the roof.

Architecturally the Science Center is a dramatic four-story structure vertically emphasizing the Spanish Renaissance history of the campus.
