Location: MAHER HALL
Summary: At approximately 1623a hate crime was reported to USD's Department of Public Safety. The incident involved two bias-related statements which had been written on two resident hall room doors with a permanent marker. Public Safety Officers took photos of the statements and immediately arranged to have Facilities Management paint over the statements, however, the investigation into these crimes continues.  Anyone with knowledge of the incident is encouraged to contact the Department of Public Safety at (619)260-7777. The University of San Diego will not tolerate hate crimes or any bias-related incidents and will respond to them with appropriate sanctions.

Location: SAN RAFAEL
Summary: At approximately 1447 a bias incident was reported to USD's Department of Public Safety. Early in the afternoon, a request was posted on a whiteboard on the door of a resident's room in the San Rafael residence hall asking for quotes from the television show "Family Guy".  The whiteboard read "Suggestions for Family Guy Theme? Any quotes?" Between 2 and 2:45 p.m., someone posted a bias-related quote on the board. A public safety officer was called to investigate the incident.  Anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to call the Department of Public Safety at (619)260-7777. The University of San Diego will not tolerate bias-related incidents and will respond to them with appropriate sanctions.

Summary: At approximately 1227 Public Safety received a report of a bias incident involving a drawing posted on a resident hall room door.  Upon investigation Public Safety was able to determine the individual responsible for the drawing and that person has been referred to Student Affairs.

Summary: At approximately 0924 Public Safety responded to a report of a vehicle parked on campus with a noose hanging from the rearview mirror.  Upon investigation the owner of the vehicle was contacted, identified as a contract worker and complied with the request to remove the noose.  The contract company was also contacted and was asked to not allow the vehicle owner on campus in the future.

Summary: At approximately 1428 Public Safety responded to a report of a PRIDE poster that had been vandalized. The poster that originally said “PRIDE is an alliance of undergraduate men and women at USD…” was altered to say, “PRIDE is an alliance of PERVERTS…” Anyone having information regarding this incident is urged to contact Public Safety at (619) 260-7777. Summary: At approximately 2007 Public Safety responded to a report of a community gate that had been vandalized.  Upon investigation the words “Arbeit Macht Frei” were painted on the gate. The English translation is “work makes free”. Facilities management was contacted to remove the painting from the gate.
