Summary: At approximately 0135, Public Safety responded to a report of a physical altercation between a cab driver and two unknown subjects. Upon investigation, the driver had parked while the two subjects, described as white males in the 20s, exited the vehicle. The subjects began to flee without paying their cab fare; one subject hit the driver with his fist while attempting to run away. The cab driver did not report any injuries. Surveillance cameras are being reviewed.

Upon investigation, a USD visitor was crossing the street on foot when an individual in a vehicle struck her. The driver then left the scene. DPS was able to locate and identify the driver. SDPD responded and made contact with the suspect, who was later identified as another USD visitor. The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical attention.

Location: SAN BUENAVENTURA
Summary: At approximately 1046, Public Safety responded to a report of a sword that was found in a residence hall room. Upon investigation, a Resident Assistant conducting a room check out had found an approximately three foot long sword, and a smoking pipe in a student’s residence. The two residents were cited for possession of paraphernalia, and for violating the University’s weapons policy.

Summary: At approximately 1129, Public Safety responded to a theft report. Upon investigation, an employee had secured his personal toolbox with a padlock at approximately 4:30pm on 12/22/09, and had left it unattended on a university golf cart. On 12/23/09 at approximately 8:00am, the employee discovered that the padlock had been tampered with, and the majority of his tools were missing from his toolbox.

Location: SPORTS CTR LOCKER ROOM
Summary: At approximately 1152, Public Safety responded to a theft report. Upon investigation, a university alumnus had left his belongings secured in a locker at approximately 9:30am. At approximately 10:48 am, he noticed that his padlock had been removed, and his wallet had been taken from his locker. There were no other items reported missing.

Summary: At approximately 0932, Public Safety responded to a report of vandalism. Upon investigation, an unknown individual had thrown a shower rod through a glass window, shattering the window and causing other damage to the residence. Summary: At approximately 1240, Public Safety was conducting a follow up investigation, and observed the smell of marijuana, and a marijuana “joint” in plain sight. Upon investigation, one student was cited for being in possession of marijuana. His two guests were contacted, determined to be non-students, and advised to leave campus. No one contacted was under the influence of marijuana.

Summary: At approximately 1413, Public Safety responded to a report of a minor traffic accident. Upon investigation, a USD visitor had accidentally backed into a light pole, causing the pole to break and fall. General Services was contacted immediately to secure the area and shut off power to the light pole. There were no other damages and no injuries were reported.
