Location: JENNY CRAIG PAVILION-FOOTBALL FIELD
Summary: At approximately 0746 Public Safety responded to a report of graffiti on university property. Upon investigation, an unknown individual had written several words in permanent marker on the storage shed and scoreboard control panel near the JCP. The photographic evidence was forwarded to SDPD Gang Unit, and General Services was contacted to paint over the graffiti.

Incident Class & Type CRIME AGAINST PROPERTY BURGLARY
Location: MAHER HALL
Summary: At approximately 0647 Public Safety responded to a burglary report. Upon investigation, an unknown individual had taken approximately $120.00 in petty cash from one vending machine in Maher, and had broken the lock of another vending machine in the area. A search of the area yielded a set of yellow bolt cutters, though it is unknown if that was the object of force used in the crime. SDPD and the vending machine manufacturers were contacted; the machines were able to be repaired.

Location: WARREN HALL SCHOOL OF LAW
Summary: At approximately 1244 Public Safety responded to a hit and run involving a university employee’s personal vehicle. Upon investigation, another employee had witnessed an unidentified driver accidentally run into the employee’s vehicle while she was attempting to park. The subject did not leave identifying information, but did cause minor damage to the employee’s vehicle.

Location: MARIAN WAY @ WEST KIOSK AND ENTRANCE
Summary: At approximately 0105, a Public Safety officer observed an individual driving erratically on Linda Vista Road and then proceed onto campus via the West Entrance. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the non-student confirmed that she had previously consumed alcohol. SDPD responded and assumed custody of the individual for driving under the influence (BAC .16); her vehicle was impounded. The passenger, also a non-student, took a taxi home as she was also too intoxicated to drive.

Location: ALCALA VISTAS AREA
Summary: At approximately 0806, Public Safety received a report of a vending machine that had been burglarized. Upon investigation, an unknown individual had forcibly opened the coin storage and taken $85.00 in coins. The cash and product within the machine were still present. One other vending machine had been tampered with, but nothing had been taken. The vending machine company was contacted and they have since repaired the machine.

Incident Class & Type PUBLIC PEACE PEEPING TOM
Location: UNIVERSITY TERRACE APARTMENTS
Summary: At approximately 1:02 am on Monday, 17 August 2009, Public Safety received a report from a resident student of an unknown subject that was peeping into a University Terrace Apartment. Public Safety arrived immediately and was able to locate the suspect who they observed looking through the window of the student’s apartment. Public Safety apprehended the suspect, who was identified as Solomon Shepherd. SDPD was contacted and they placed Mr. Shephard under arrest. Should you see Mr. Shephard on campus do not attempt to contact him, and please call DPS immediately at 619-260-2222; he is not permitted to be on the University of San Diego campus. Summary: At approximately 1357, Public Safety received a theft report involving a resident student’s personal property. Upon investigation, the student had left his motorcycle helmet unattended and unsecured on his kick stand on 08/16/09. His helmet was discovered missing on 08/17/09. No other items were missing.

Location: ALCALA VISTAS W LOT-NEAR TENNIS COURTS
Summary: At approximately 1440, Public Safety received a report of a child that had been found alone in a vehicle. Upon investigation, the parents of the child were with a University community member near the Sports Center pool. Child Protective Services was called because the child had been left alone for approximately 10 minutes. The child was not injured, and all parties involved cooperated with the investigation.

Summary: At approximately 0041, a Public Safety officer observed a non-student female subject that had been previously contacted and had been advised that she was not permitted to be on campus. The officer made contact with the female subject who became verbally aggressive to the officer. The subject was advised not to return to the campus or she would be subject to possible arrest for trespassing. Summary: At approximately 1203, Public Safety received a report of a non-injury traffic accident involving a university-owned vehicle. Upon investigation, the university employee accidentally backed into another vehicle in an off-campus parking lot. There were no injuries and only a very minor scratch was sustained by the USD vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle declined to file a report.

Summary: At approximately 1551, Public Safety received a report of a stolen bicycle that had been left over summer. Upon investigation, a resident student had left her bicycle secured to a bike shed in the Missions B area. Over the summer months, an unknown individual had removed the bicycle. There were no signs of forced entry, and no other property was reported missing.

Location: MAIN KIOSK-TRAFFIC CIRCLE
Summary: At approximately 1929, Public Safety received a report of a windshield that had apparently been cracked by a soccer ball. Upon investigation, a non-student had parked his vehicle in a covered stall inside the Missions Parking Structure facing the soccer field, where several male subjects were playing soccer. There was a circular imprint and corresponding cracks consistent with the size of a soccer ball on the windshield. There were no witnesses to the incident.

Summary: At approximately 2334, Public Safety received a report of a stolen iPod Touch. Upon investigation, a resident student and his roommate had left their door unsecured while they were outside of their room. The iPod touch was the only property found missing, and there were no signs of forced entry.

Summary: At approximately 1614, Public Safety received a report of an individual that was attempting to view pornographic websites on university computers. The individual, a non-student who was determined to be temporarily visiting the United States, was admonished for his behavior, and was advised he was no longer able to use university-owned computers or access University facilities.
