Community Safety Officer

The purpose of the Community Service Officers is to assist the Department of Public Safety and the USD community in providing a safe and effective learning atmosphere. Community Service Officers patrol the campus and act as eyes and ears for the Department. CSO's lighten the load on the Department by taking care of service calls such as rooms that need to be unlocked and transports of disabled students.

Community Service Officers are also full-time students at USD. This makes them a valuable asset both to the Department and to the student body. They act as a liaison between the students and the Department, helping students to better understand the job of Public Safety, and helping Public Safety work better with the students.

Those students interested in working as a Community Service Officer should contact the Department of Public Safety at 619-260-7777.
