January Check-In Information
All returning students in the non-continuos occupancy areas are permitted to check-in after 10 am on Friday, January 25, 2013. If you would like to request an earlier check-in date you must submit an Intersession Housing Application. You do not need to be taking courses or working on campus to be considered for on-campus housing during intersession or to arrive early. All applications must be submitted no less than two business days prior to your arrival to avoid a $65 late registration fee. The Residential Life Central Office will be closed December 22nd through January 1st for the holiday break. Any application for a January 2nd or 3rd arrival date needs to be submitted by 5pm on December 19th to avoid the $65 late fee. The rates for Intersession or early arrival housing are $40 per day for a single and $32 per day for a multiple or $400 total (whichever is least expensive for the student). These charges will be automatically billed to your student account based on your academic year room occupancy type for the dates requested through your online intersession application.
Students who are members of a team or organization which requires an earlier check-in date should contact their coaches or group advisers for more information on early arrivals.
Continuous Occupancy
Continuous occupancy (including Christmas Break, Intersession and Spring Break) is available at no additional expense only for those Residents in the San Antonio de Padua, Presidio Terrace, University Terrace Apartments and Manchester Village who fulfill the full 2012-2013 academic year Agreement. Any Resident who does not fulfill the full 2012-2013 academic year Agreement shall pay the room fees established for those periods and paid by Residents in other campus housing buildings
Spring 2013 Application
If you are not living on campus for Fall 2012, you will need to complete the Spring 2013 on-campus housing application (spring application available November 5th 2012). To apply for Spring 2013 on-campus housing, please complete the following steps:
- Bring in or send a $250 non-refundable prepayment to the Cashier's office (do not send in a check to the Residential Life office). The Cashier's office only takes cash or check. They do not take credit cards over the phone. Thus, if you are not close to San Diego, you must mail in a check. Mark the check with your USD ID# and put a note with it with your name, USD ID# and that the check is for the spring 2013 non-refundable housing prepayment. Please note: housing priority is based on the date your check is received by the Cashier's office.
- Fill out the Spring online application (spring application available in early November).
- If you already know a specific room that you would like to move into, please email housing@sandiego.edu with your request. While Residential Life does not guarantee building or occupancy type, we will do our best to accommodate your request if mutually agreed upon by the other residents in that room/apartment and submitted in a timely manner. If you do not request a specific room, you will be placed in an available room that best fits your preferences that you list on the application.
