Maher Hall is a freshman residence hall located on the top three floors of the five story building that was originally St. Francis Seminary. Maher is coed by wing. Most of the rooms are triples or quads, and a very limited number of double rooms are also available. A Community Director, eight Resident Assistants, and a Resident Minister reside in this area. The lower floors contain classrooms and administrative offices. All rooms have wall-to-wall carpeting. Each residence room has its own bathroom including toilet, sink, and shower. These bathrooms must be cleaned by the residents. Each resident is provided with an extra long (80") twin bed, chest of drawers, desk and desk chair. In addition, each room has wireless internet, a telephone, and cable television access. Most residence rooms are entered from the outside balconies and some rooms have splendid views of Mission Bay, Tecolote Canyon, or the fountain in front of Maher. Vending machines and laundry areas are also provided. Maher Hall is centrally located near classrooms, the library, bookstore, the mail center, Aromas and the Hahn University Center. A TV lounge and a study lounge are both located on the fifth floor. The University Alcohol Policy designates Maher Hall as a no alcohol living area regardless of age or class status.

Maher Desk Services
The Maher Desk is the home of the RA office located in MH 306W. The front desk staff encodes room key cards, takes messages, gives information, provides vacuums and other sundries for residents. You can reach the Desk at extension 3177.

Aromas
On the first floor of Maher Hall, on the west end, is USD’s award winning coffeehouse located in the heart of campus. Always abuzz with activity, Aromas is the perfect setting to enjoy a beverage with friends without having to leave campus. They have couches, tables, and computer stations for students to use. Maher Group Study Lounge
The Study Lounge is located on the 5th floor. You will find approximately a dozen individual desks and chairs in the lounge.
 
Maher Lounge
The Maher Lounge is located on the 5th floor. Relax and watch a movie on the leather couches. Grab your pool cue for a game on the pool table found in the lounge. There is a DVD player for viewing the latest release. You can check out the DVD player and pool equipment at the Maher RA Office (MH 306W).
 
Maher Laundry Facilities
The Laundry Facilities include 15 washing machines and 16 dryers. The cost for a load of laundry in the washer is $1.25 and dryers are $.50. You need to purchase a laundry card for $2.00 and you can replenish your money on the card in $5, $10, and $20 increments. The laundry card machine does not take $1.00 bills. You can purchase a laundry card using cash, debit card, or credit card. You can purchase a laundry card and/or reload money on your laundry card at the Add Value station, located on the wall right outside the Maher Desk (MH 306W). 

Maher RA Office
The Resident Assistant Office MH 306W is where you can find Resident Assistants working on programming efforts and performing their on-duty hours. Feel free to stop by and talk with any RA to discuss any concerns and ideas you may have for Maher Hall. The Maher RA office is open 7 days a week (hours vary, and are posted on door MH-306W). You can reach the Maher RA Office Desk at extension 3177.
 
Maher Community Director
Tony Quezada is the Community Director for Maher Hall. His office is Maher 306E, which is directly across from the Maher RA Office. He is from Upland, California, which is about 35 minutes east of LA. Tony attended UC San Diego for his undergraduate studies and Azusa Pacific University for his graduate studies.

 

In his spare time, Tony enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking, bike riding, going to the beach, and pretty much exploring all that San Diego has to offer. Tony’s best piece of advice would be to get involved in something at USD.  There are a lot of different opportunities for you to get involved in.  If there is anything he can help you with, please don’t be afraid to ask!
