Spring 2010

January Check-In Information
All returning students are permitted to check-in after 12:00 noon on Friday, January 22th 2010. Earlier check-in dates will not be permitted except under extraordinary circumstances and require approval by the Residential Life Office. The early arrival charge is $50 per night per resident. Students who are members of a team or club which requires early check-in should contact their coach or group advisor for more information. Early arrival charges may still apply for these student groups.

Spring 2010 Application
If you did not live on campus for Fall 2009, you will need to complete the Spring 2010 on-campus housing application. To sign up for Spring 2010 on-campus housing, please complete the following steps:

•  Mail your $250 non-refundable prepayment (check or money order) to the Residential Life Office at 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego Ca. 92110. You may also bring in the prepayment to the Residential Life Office located downstairs in the Mission Crossroads building. Mark the check/money order with your USD ID#. With your prepayment include a note with your USD ID#, your name, and that the check is for the Spring 2010 non-refundable housing prepayment. Please note: housing priority is based on the date your check is received by the Cashier's office.

•  Complete the Spring online application.

•  If you already know a room that you would like to move into, please email housing@sandiego.edu with which room you would like to move into. Also, have all roommates in the room send in emails confirming that they agree to having you as a roommate. Please know that we cannot place you in a room if all roommates have not submitted emails. If you not request a specific room, you will be placed in an available room which best fits your preferences that you list on the application.

Room Rates and Occupancy Levels
Semester room and board fees are based on the actual number of residents in a room on the first day of classes on Monday, January 25, 2010. Room occupancy information is sent to the Student Account Office in early December for spring semester billing. Students' accounts will be adjusted in February for those residents whose room occupancies change on or before February 1, 2010.

Residents whose roommates leave prior to spring semester have two options if they would like to continue to pay their fall semester rate. They can either move into rooms which have vacancies or find roommates to fill the vacancies in their rooms. To help with this process, residents should stop by the Residential Life Office. Residents desiring to keep their rooms at reduced occupancy (and pay the higher rate for the spring semester) and those residents who desire room changes for the spring semester should complete the appropriate forms at the Residential Life Office. For additional information, please contact the Residential Life Office at (619) 260-4777.

All residents will receive detailed information regarding billing, room changes and check-out information via their Resident Assistants. For additional information, please contact the Residential Life Office at (619) 260-4777.

Meal Plan Changes
You have through the first five class days of the (undergraduate) semester to make changes to your plan. You may increase your spring semester meal plan via the My San Diego ‘student life' portal, or at the Campus Card Office, locate in the University Center Rm. 127 . Note: freshman residents may not decrease or cancel their plans at any time. For more information visit the Dining Services webpage.

Spring Break
Spring Break is from Saturday, March 6th noon to Sunday March 14th 2010 noon. Spring Break occupancy is not a period covered under the Housing Agreement except for Manchester, Presidio Terrace, and University Terrace Apartments. Written requests to remain in your room during Spring Break must be submitted to the Residential Life Office by Monday February 22nd. Residents granted permission to reside in the residence halls during Spring Break will be subject to a $25 per night or $100 per week charge billed directly to the Resident's University account. Note: Any unapproved resident found occupying their residence will be fined $50 per night.
