Carol (Santangelo)
Lovejoy is a mother of four and stepmother of
two. She works for husband Bill Lovejoy at his office. In her
spare time, she enjoys acting in Los Angeles “or wherever
the work takes me.” … Mary (Clarke) Stevens writes that living in the Washington,
D.C., area always makes life interesting and educational. She
is busy with four children: Sara, 18; Ali, 16; Taylor, 13;
and Maggie, 10. Sara is headed off to Virginia Tech University.
Husband Dave is a vice president with the Federal Home Loan
Mortgage Corp. and is always on the road.

Benjamin Haddad (J.D.) recently was appointed by San Diego
Mayor Dick Murphy to a new six-year term on the San Diego County
Water Authority board of directors. He is chairman of the board
of trustees of the San Diego Center for Children. … Philip
Matricardi (J.D.) chairs the Washington Association
of Realtors Legal Affairs Committee and the Seattle King County
Association of Realtors’ Governmental and Public Affairs
Committee. He also is chairman of the Seattle King County Association
of Realtors’ “First Citizen” Scholarship
Foundation. Recently he traveled to North Carolina, West Virginia
and Washington, D.C.

Richard Beavers just returned from a trip to El Salvador;
he and his eldest son were part of a 38-person team, sponsored
by Lufkin First Assembly of God, to begin construction on a
children’s classroom building for Iglesia Torre Fuerte. “Many
people accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior,” he
writes.

James Poole (J.D.) lives in Loveland, Colo., where
he practices patent law. He recently defended a local trademark
applicant against a large phone company “represented
by a huge (New York City) law firm, finally gaining a dismissal,” he
writes.

Nancy Elizabeth (Cunningham)
Ashworth (M.A. ’87) moved to Vermont. She
counts as her loves: autumn colors, no traffic and a stress-free
lifestyle. “Not too keen: ice, below-zero all February.” She
is a professor of English at the oldest state college there,
Castleton State College, which was founded in 1787. She also

(Taylor) Telles Maille (M.S.N. ’84)
retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs
on July 31. Marelyn is a Granite State ambassador, welcoming
travelers to New Hampshire, and plans to travel and spend time
doing volunteer work.

Janice Bellucci (J.D.) is general counsel for the California
Space Authority. … Dan
Trigoboff (J.D.) and Debra Kohlman-Trigoboff ’83 and their family have relocated to North
Carolina, where Dan is business editor of the Fayetteville
Observer. Debra is senior nurse practitioner for vascular surgery
at Duke University Medical Center. Dan has been a writer and
editor at the San Diego Daily Transcript, Los Angeles Daily
Journal, Legal Times, Bureau of National Affairs, Baltimore
Daily Record and most recently, at Broadcasting and Cable magazine
in Washington, D.C. Debra most recently was clinical coordinator
for vascular surgery at the Washington Hospital Center.

Jill (Kluge) Buschhausen and her family have lived in Murrieta,
Calif., for 18 years. She and her husband have four children:
Erin, 21; Shayne, 18; Kiley, 15; and Haylee, 3. Jill is working
on her administrative credential and a master’s degree
in reading literacy. … William
Neeper has been in San
Diego for five years. “That’s the longest I’ve
been in one place since high school,” he writes. … Bruce
Pileggi is married to wife Kathleen and raising
a family of four children: Katie, 19; Michael and Scott, 13;
and Jake, 7. He is enjoying life in the Rocky Mountains as
a resident of Highlands Ranch, Colo. “Great place to
raise a family and enjoy the mountains,” he writes. … Thomas
Swanke just finished taking 15 hours of
graduate finance courses to receive a doctoral qualification
to teach finance.

Michael Shames (J.D.) says he’s been up to “nothing
but trouble.” He is keeping after the energy, telephone
and cable utilities as well as the city of San Diego’s
Water Department. In between, he is keeping a close eye on
the gasoline industry. “During my free time, I hunt around
looking for that elusive free time — haven’t found
any yet,” he writes.

Cheri (Danielson)
Jefferies writes that daughter Ann Jefferies began
attending USD in the fall. … Scott Machon is
a region manager for Bacardi USA. Wife Lynn put her public
relations career on hold to care for the couple’s three
children: Michael, 5; and Natalie and Paige, 15-month-old twins.
All are well and living in the San Francisco Bay area.

to the Ryan, Whaley, Coldiron law firm, where he continues

William Christensen is busy with the mortgage business, playing
golf, attending Padres games and spending time with family. … Mark
La Bar and Julie
(Barbaro) La Bar ’86 celebrated
17 years of marriage with their four children — Chelsea,
14; Christian, 13; Samantha, 9; and Mary Kate, 7 — while
on vacation in Southern California this past summer. They live
in Tower Lakes, Ill., and really enjoy Midwest living. Julie
is at home with the kids and volunteers at the Barrington High
School college guidance center. Mark is director of food service
at Topco Associates LLC, a sales, marketing and purchasing
cooperative. … Christopher Lange is a United Airlines pilot based in Los Angeles.
He flies a Boeing 777. … Cathy Ross has
worked for the California Department of Corrections for 18
years. She writes that it may be time to move on. “I’m
thinking of moving to Arizona and opening up a daycare center.
Wish me luck.”

operated his own law firm, which specializes in estate planning
and elder law. He teaches classes at Coastline College in Costa

Noriega ’87 are
celebrating 15 years of marriage and have two wonderful kids,
Christina, 13, and Jay, 12. Jim is a manager of mortgage operations
review with Countrywide Warehouse Lending in West Hills, Calif.
Elizabeth works part-time for the Chino Valley Unified School
District. The family lives in Chino Hills, Calif.

Michele (Wilson)
Ranck received a master’s degree in
theology from the University of Louvain in Belgium. She taught
high school religion until her fourth child was born. She and
her husband have three boys and a girl. … Marion (Mehling) Reynoso is keeping busy raising two children,
Ricky, 7, and Rachal, 5. … Kim Roberts received
a doctorate in neuroscience from Washington State University
in 1993, then moved to Davis, Calif., where she earned a post-doctorate
fellowship at the University of California, Davis. She has
been teaching at California State University, Sacramento, for
eight years and spends her free time with her 3-year-old daughter.
Her hobbies include running triathlons.

Darlene Armstrong-Ilten accepted an early employee buyout offer
after working 12 years for SBC. She then became a substitute
schoolteacher in 2000. She has been married since 1987 and
has two dogs. She volunteers at a nursing home with a dog therapy
visitation program. She also enjoys traveling, skiing, playing
tennis and photography. … Leslie (Zwingenberg) Detwiler (J.D.) reports that after 19 years living
in San Diego, she relocated her law practice to Redding, Calif.
Leslie lives in Redding with her husband and two children,
Chase and Paige. … After years as medical missionaries
in Papua New Guinea, Lynette (Carr) Patton (Ed.D.) and husband Jack Patton have
relocated to Fresno, Calif., to be near their grandchildren
and multicultural church-related ministries.

Anne (Reid) Eberwein is a stay-at-home mother to four great
kids: John, 11; Katie, 10; Matthew, 8; and Christine, 4. She
and husband Joseph Eberwein love Arizona “but do join the
mass exodus of ’Zonis” who go to San Diego in summer.
Joe is director of Progressive Insurance Company’s call
center in Phoenix. … Kevin Eppich married in October 2002 and lives in Ripon,
Calif. He is in the golf irrigation business. In his spare
time, he enjoys playing golf and spending quality time with
wife Denise and stepson Raymond. … Meredith (Giesing) Good worked as a computer programmer for six years
after graduation. She is now a stay-at-home mother. She home-schools
four boys and also has a son and daughter who are grown and
on their own. … Virginia (Urban) Kim just returned from a month in New York with
husband Charles and 4-year-old twin sons Alexander and Gabriel. “Good

a week as a researcher in the archives library of the San Diego

high school football. He has been married for 11 years to wife

Victoria Eriqat (J.D.) has spent 16 years specializing in
real estate, contracts, landlord-tenant issues and estate planning.
She also volunteers as a judge in area courts. Her daughter
Suzanne and son-in-law recently became attorneys. … Michael
Kallas (M.A.) recently was promoted to co-director
of the office of spiritual formation and counseling services
at Hellenic College, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology
in Brookline, Mass. The office provides counseling and referrals,
vocational exploration and guidance, spiritual and psychological
assessment, spiritual direction and chaplaincy services. … Thomas
Mauriello (J.D.) has been
living in the San Francisco Bay area since 2000 with wife Nancy
and daughter Natalie, 5. His law practice is in the Financial
District and focuses on securities litigation and arbitration. … George
Means (J.D.) has been practicing law at Sidley
Austin since 1988. He is happily married to Terisa and is a
proud father of: Lindsay, 14; Abby, 12; and Sophie, 6. “My
mild midlife crisis resulted in rediscovering the joys of off-road
motorcycling,” he writes. … Cynthia (Bray) Parkman (M.S.N.) teaches nursing leadership in
a tenure track position at California State University, Sacramento.
She also is pursuing a doctorate in sociology at University
of California, Davis. She is enjoying life with her husband
and three children. Her oldest son is in his sophomore year
at University of California, San Diego.

Lauren Azevedo-Grondona and husband Tom welcomed son Benedetto
Tomaso on Sept. 12, 2003. Tom is a San Diego architect, and
the family lives in the city’s Point Loma neighborhood.
The family hopes to have another child next year. … Susan (Briggs) Melia has been married 12 years and has three children:
Griffin, 8; Nolan, 6; and Isabelle, 3. She has worked in the
investment industry for almost 11 years. She looks forward
to seeing all the changes at USD sometime soon. … Brenda
(Gabby) Griffith and husband Greg just celebrated their
15th anniversary. She is busy at home schooling their three
children, ages 13, 10, and 8. … Kimberly (Stevens) Johnson moved to New Hampshire a year ago with her
husband and three children, ages 6, 4 and 2. Kim teaches at
an elementary school. … Mary
Jane (Kaplan) Marusich lives
in Temecula, Calif., with husband Greg and two children, Timothy
and Tyler. She is very active with the parent-teacher association
there. … Randal Torres bought
Grappolo restaurant and bar in San Luis Obispo, Calif., in
August and is chef/owner there. He has a 2-year-old daughter,
Emma Marie, and two sons, Jordan, 12, and Conor, 10. They attended
USD basketball camp last summer. He has been married to Jocylan (Nawrot) Torres ’88 for 14 years. … Craig Wichert builds custom homes in Northern California. … Deanna
(MacGregor) Windle made
the career switch to full-time mother in 2001 and teaches outdoor
classes occasionally. Her family will enjoy San Diego for another
18 months before they join her husband, U.S. Navy Chief Robert
Windle, on a three-year tour in Italy. … Jill (Roemer) Yates and her husband, Jeff, have been married for
six years. They live in Newport Beach, Calif. Jill has worked
as an operations manager for an executive suite company for
seven years and her husband owns treatment centers in Newport
Beach. Jill says they are very happy together and are building
a family.

who either teach leadership or consult in that area. More information
is available at realtimeleadership.com. … Nicole Toesca-Miller (M.B.A.) continues to win awards at various
Southern California art shows. She has participated in recent
group art shows including an exhibit that ran through December
at Scripps Hospital in the La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego.
