Senior Has Come Long Way to Lead Toreros

U-T San Diego -- Patrick Wallen isn’t from here. He was born 5,582 miles northeast, in a Sweden suburb where hockey is king.

Twice a week in the autumn, soccer takes hold. In one household at least.

In the wee hours of an occasional morning, the Wallen family huddles around a laptop armed with coffee, an early breakfast and a lot of baby blue.

The USD men’s soccer team has a loyal fan base far, far away, rooting for the Toreros to press on in the NCAA Tournament.

“It’s better if they can access a video feed, but they find a broadcast either way,” Wallen said. “My family tunes in for me, but they’re rooting for all of us.” (Full Story)
