Special Assistant to the President

Elaine has served as special assistant to the president at the University of San Diego since 2000.  In her position as special assistant, Elaine serves as the director of administrative services for the Office of the President and the assistant secretary to the Board of Trustees. Elaine is responsible for planning, managing, and directing the business of the Office of the President and matters related to the Board of Trustees, including special events and functions. 

Elaine has a long association with the university. She has worked for three presidents – President Emerita Alice Hayes, President Emerita Mary Lyons and current President James Harris.  In 2003, Elaine was appointed assistant secretary to the Board of Trustees.  In this role, she has served six chairs – the late Trustee Emeritus Mr. Liam McGee, Chair Emeritus Robert Hoehn, Chair Emerita Darlene Shiley, Chair Emeritus Ron Fowler, and current Chair Donald Knauss. Prior to joining the President’s Office, Elaine served as the special assistant to the Vice President for University Relations.

Elaine is the liaison to the President’s Executive Council. She is a member of the President’s Cabinet, National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education and the International Live Events Association. Elaine has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of the Assumption.
