This conference is presented by the Center for Peace and Commerce and the Ahlers Center for International Business at the University of San Diego.

C. K. Prahalad has left an indelible mark in business thinking and practice worldwide. His work ranging from corporate strategy to the fortune at the base-of-the-pyramid (BOP) is a growing source of debate and innovations. This conference focuses on C.K. Prahalad’s legacy in the field of BOP studies, centered on the premise that business models can mobilize social change by engaging with the poor in the marketplace profitably. His premise has caught the imagination of many from for profit companies, governments, aid agencies, to civil society organizations, triggering links between issues that heretofore lacked any real connection: social development, the fight against poverty, and business performance.
