Dr. Lori Watson (University of Illinois-Chicago, 2004) is assistant professor of philosophy. Her areas of specialization are political philosophy, feminism, and philosophy of law. She is currently teaching introduction to philosophy and introduction to logic; she plans to develop courses in feminist theory. Current research projects include reconciling religious and feminist objections to political liberalism, developing an account of civil rights that does not rest solely on immutable characteristics, and arguing that the nature vs. nurture debate, on matters of sex, gender, and sexuality, rests on a false dichotomy that we must reject in favor of a more complex understanding of these phenomena. She has articles forthcoming in Hypatia and Social Theory and Practice.
