From the premises that both fields of peacebuilding and development are deeply intertwined in their practical and theoretical inceptions, dynamics and outcomes, The Journal of Peacebuilding and Development (JPD) offers a space for:
- Identifying and examining conceptual and practical linkages between the fields of peacebuilding and development;
- Fostering South-North and theory-practice dialogues on issues of peacebuilding and development;
- Evaluating peace and development policies and programmes and their negative and positive impacts;
- Generating critical awareness about strategies and alternatives, and sharing lessons and best practices on mutually supportive means to prevent conflict, sustain peace and build human development.
While JPD's authors, advisors and editorial board represent global scholarship, practice and activism, through its production process and related activities, JPD strives to build capacity of Southern scholars and practitioners to write and publish in ways that support integrated policy, practice and activism on peacebuilding and development. Through the journal, it is envisaged that key debates can be nurtured, experiences and strategies shared, and lessons remembered. Together, these stories, reflections and critical analyses are shared with global audiences towards facilitating ingrated approaches to peacebuilding and development that can better respond to the challenges surrounding poverty, conflict and building peace.
