Master's Degree Internship Requirement

The master’s degree internship requirement provides an opportunity for students to gain practical  experience through interning with NGOs, nonprofits and other organizations in San Diego, elsewhere in the United States, or abroad. The internship experience is a period of professional service and learning, where students can apply theory to practice with colleagues in a professional setting, often at the grassroots level.

Students in the 17-month track complete an internship with an organization working in a field related to peace and justice, including but not limited to conflict resolution, human rights, development, or human security. The approved internship reflects the interests and goals of the student in her/his chosen area of study, and ultimately, career path.
