“Love Crosses Borders / El Amor Cruza Fronteras”
Camera: Samsung Phone-Dark
My name is Yovany Diaz and I was once a little kid in San Luis Potosi, México, working hard by milking the cows, picking up firewood, and shredding the fields with a machete. When I was eight years old, I found myself swimming across the dark and terrifying cold water of El Rio Grande to be reunited with my mother. As we moved across the water I lost my handgrip with my brother, Bryan. It was then that I felt the pressure of the water forcing me to almost drown. It wasn’t an easy task, but I really wanted to see my mother. Up until then, I had no recollection of my mother. I really missed her and I wanted to know who she was. She left México to chase a better life for us and we left México to chase her.
