WorldLink Internships

WorldLink High School Interns

WorldLink offers a specialized high school internship during the summer, fall and spring semesters at the Institute for Peace and Justice. WorldLink interns have the opportunity to explore global topics in a more in-depth manner than other student conference delegates, taking a regional or topical approach on pressing issues that will be further explored at the Youth Town Meeting.

Through WorldLink internships, high school students have opportunities to:

  • Attend events at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies and the University of San Diego
  • Conduct in-depth research projects on global topics
  • Strengthen public speaking and presentation skills
  • Enhance skills in graphic designing, online marketing and video production
  • Interview prominent leaders in global affairs
  • Produce publications used by youth worldwide

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I submit my application electronically?
A. Students may scan and email their completed applications or fax them to 619-260-7570. Students can also mail their applications to the IPJ Office or hand deliver them to the office.

Q. Can my teacher/counselor/supervisor submit my letter of recommendation separately or does it have to be included in my application packet?
A. Your advisor can either send in his/her letter separately or hand you a sealed and signed envelope to include in your application packet.

Q. What if I don't know what my schedule is going to look like yet (i.e. sports, job, clubs, etc.)?
A. WorldLink understands that students are still trying to coordinate their schedules at the beginning of each semester. You should still apply if you think this internship could be of interest to you. The WorldLink Program Officer will work with your schedule.

Q. My schedule does not allow for a semester-long internship. Are there other ways to become involved with the WorldLink program?
A. WorldLink is a year-round program that offers a multitude of opportunities for youth interested in global affairs. We encourage you to browse the WorldLink web site to learn more about our year-round activities, in particular the annual Youth Town Meeting where high school students serve as conference moderators, journalists and photographers.
