Spring 2013 Interns

 

Jennifer Pampolina is a senior at the University of California, San Diego, majoring in Political Science - International Relations. She studied at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, and at the Free University in Berlin, Germany, and speaks German. Jennifer has also worked at an English language camp in Italy, teaching young children. She has volunteered at the International Rescue Committee in San Diego in the Internship Department as a Citizenship Tutor, and has participated in a Model United Nations Conference in Antalya, Turkey. She aspires to a career in the United Nations or the U.S. State Department.

   
Meliza Trimidal is a junior at the University of San Diego, majoring in International Relations, and minoring in French and Asian Studies. She is originally from the Philippines and speaks fluent Tagalog, intermediate French, intermediate Japanese, and Latin. She has received the USD Presidential Scholarship and is on the Dean’s List, and has volunteered with the Relay for Life of the American Cancer Society. Meliza is also National Communications Coordinator for the USD Residence Hall Association. She was inspired to apply for an internship at the IPJ after hearing Woman PeaceMaker Merlie “Milet” Mendoza speak in 2010.

   
 

Ashley Vigil is a junior at the University of San Diego, double majoring in Political Science and Sociology. She studied at University College Cork in Cork, Ireland, and is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Phi Alpha Delta (pre-law fraternity), the ASTRA Community Service Club, and Invisible Children. Her main interests are in women’s human rights and how these are perceived. Ashley became interested in this internship because of her “dual passions for women’s rights and justice.” And last but not least, Ashley has been awarded USD Ashoka Changemakers scholarship.
