  • Presentation by Dee Aker, IPJ Deputy Director, on the impact on, and the role for, Nepal's women in ending the current conflict at the “Conference on Nepal” convened by the National Intelligence Council and Bureau of Intelligence and Research, U.S. Department of State.

May 2003 – Kathmandu, Nepal

  • Participatory Seminar - Women, Politics, and Peace: Working for a Just Society I "When Women Run, Women Win" for Women Leaders facilitated by Regina Bafaki, Program Officer ACFODE (Action for Development, Uganda), Karon Cochran, IPJ Program Officer, and Dee Aker, IPJ Deputy Director.

  • Trainers Workshop - "Grassroots Campaigning & Encouraging Voter Participation" for Women Leaders facilitated by Regina Bafaki, Program Officer ACFODE (Action for Development, Uganda), Karon Cochran, IPJ Program Officer, and Dee Aker, IPJ Deputy Director.

January 2003 – Kathmandu and Gorkha, Nepal

  • Assessment visit, by invitation, in which individual meetings with official, civil, and internationals took place to determine how best the IPJ could respond to requests for assistance in resolving the conflict. Assessment team included Karl-Heinz Kraemer, researcher and scholar on Nepal, Karon Cochran, IPJ Program Officer, and Dee Aker, IPJ Deputy Director.
