IPJ International Work
In fulfillment of the mandate set forth by Joan B. Kroc, who asked that the Institute be a place that not only "talked about peace, but made peace," international peacebuilding initiatives have been at the core of the Institute’s work and mission since its creation.
The IPJ works with local partners to help strengthen their efforts to consolidate peace with justice in the communities in which they live. By anchoring its efforts in a domestically rooted process of change, IPJ initiatives are designed to cultivate peace, foster justice and create a safer world more broadly.

The IPJ’s peacebuilding initiatives vary depending on the country context and needs of local partners. In Nepal, for example, the IPJ works with Nepali groups to support inclusiveness and dialogue in the transition from armed conflict and monarchy to peace and multiparty democracy. In West Africa, the IPJ works with local human rights groups to strengthen their ability to pressure government for much needed reform and accountability.
