Seminar on the State of the Art of Peace & Conflict Studies Panelists from October 25,2004.

As a contribution to the process of establishing a School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego (USD), the Institute convened in late 2004 a Seminar on the State of the Art in Peace & Conflict Studies. The seminar was convened in tribute to the life of Joan Kroc, who died in October 2003 of brain cancer and who bequeathed $50 million to USD to create a School of Peace Studies.

The seminar brought renowned scholars in peace and conflict resolution from across the United States to the Institute for a full day of public panel presentations and discussions, followed by a half day of internal discussion. Dr. Mary Lyons, President of the University of San Diego, introduced the seminar.  The Institute expresses its thanks to her and to then-Interim Provost Anne Donnellan for their support to this event; and to the scholars, who offered their expert advice.
