| Title | Student-Athletes Make Christmas Merrier for Local Families |
|---|---|
| Message | Inside USD-- Conrad Smith is taking 18 units this semester and is on track to earn a business administration degree in May. He recently finished his fourth and final year as an offensive lineman for the football team and he works in the athletic department’s equipment office. Haley Pittman ’11 is a double major in communications and Spanish and is a member of the women’s swim team. Still, being supremely busy student-athletes doesn’t complete them. Smith balances academics, football and a job with his role as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Pittman is a co-vice president of the SAAC, which provides a forum for all USD student-athletes to have a voice. Together, along with 40 other USD student-athletes representing every USD sports team, they also spend ample time focusing on others. “I think it’s really important for us to be more than just student-athletes,” Pittman said. “We’re so fortunate to attend this university and to play our sport. It’s important to remember to give back.” |
