From May 3 to 22, Interim Director Dee Aker, Nepal Program Officer Chris Groth and Lilia Velasquez, law professor and human rights specialist, were in Nepal to facilitate discussions on key peace challenges in Kathmandu and Dolakha and Chitwan Districts. Program participants included lawyers, political party representatives, rural women leaders, civil society members and journalists.

Partnering with Khmer Ahimsa, an organization led by Woman PeaceMaker Thavory Huot, the IPJ went to Cambodia to work with women involved in politics, including those from remote districts. In the lead-up to the country’s elections later this year, Interim Director Dee Aker and Program Officer Zahra Ismail held trainings to further enhance the participants’ negotiation and strategic communication skills.
