Highlights and Facts
A Brief Timeline…
- In 1994, the Trans-Border Institute (TBI) was established to involve the University in the issues confronting the U.S.-Mexico border region through scholarship, academic programming and bi-national dialogue.
- In 2000, the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice (IPJ) was established as a center for conflict resolution and human rights.
- In 2002, the University’s first Masters of Arts in Peace & Justice Studies was established.
- Since 2003, we have placed 70 new peacebuilders into the field.
- In 2007, the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies was inaugurated with a generous endowment from philanthropist Joan B. Kroc
- Also in 2007, the IPJ and TBI were incorporated into the new School of Peace Studies.
- In fall 2009, the School of Peace Studies implemented its newly revised Masters Degree curriculum.
