Biography
Louis CappellaDirector, Operations and Events For nearly 20 years, Louis Cappella has produced and directed conferences and special events.
In 2002, he joined the University of San Diego as their first Event Operations Manager at the newly constructed Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice (KIPJ). Since then, under Mr. Cappella's direction, the KIPJ has become a premiere conference venue in San Diego, annually hosting more than 1,200 events organized by the University community and external organizations.
A native of Massachusetts, Louis resided in Boston before moving to California in 2001. While in Boston, he served as Director of Operations for the Conference and Events division of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's, Technology Review magazine. Prior to that, he provided event management and production consulting services, and worked as a Senior Consultant for Stephen Dickerman Associates, specializing in development consulting for nonprofits.
For five years, Mr. Cappella served as Associate Producer for Reebok International’s Reebok Human Rights Award ceremony. During his tenure at the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, he directed the agency’s two largest annual fundraising and public education events, the AIDS Walk and AIDS Dance-a-thon, which together raised $10 million dollars over three years. |
