Warrior Ideals and the Future of the Military

Capt. Paul K. Chappell will speak at the annual ROTC breakfast, in an event co-sponsored by The Department of Leadership Studies in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences, the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice, the San Diego Veterans for Peace, and the International Center.
Capt. Chappell graduated from West Point in 2002 and served in the United States Army for seven years. He was deployed to Baghdad in 2006, and left active duty in November 2009 as a captain. He is the author of three popular books on the topic of war and peace in modern society. He lives in Santa Barbara, Calif., where he is serving as the peace leadership director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation and working on his fourth book, The Art of Waging Peace: A Strategic Approach to Improving Our Lives and the World. He speaks throughout the country to colleges, high schools, veterans groups, churches, and activist organizations.
A contintental breakfast will be available in the Hilton Loggia (the hallway just outside the Warren Auditorium) beginning at 7:15 a.m. and the talk will take place at 7:30 a.m. in the Warren Auditorium.
Capt. Chappell’s books will be available for purchase and for autograph copies after the talk.
