KIPJ Production Studio
|Event Start Time||1:00 pm - 5:00 pm|
As part of this year's Border Film Week, the Trans-Border Institute will offer the opportunity to all students to participate in a documentary making workshop.
This hands-on workshop teaches effective techniques for conceptualizing, shooting, and post-production documentaries with a distinct voice, compelling storylines, and engaging themes.
Students learn to conduct and shoot interviews, how to illustrate content, and about the basics of digital editing. Clips from documentaries directed by Artenstein and others are used to illustrate and discuss relevant topics and strategies.
Isaac Artenstein wrote and directed the feature film Break of Dawn that premiered at Sundance and released worldwide; produced the romantic comedy Love Always (Lifetime Channel) and the hit comedy A Day Without a Mexican (Videocine/Televisa)
He's directed award-winning documentaries such as Diana Kennedy: Cuisines of Mexico, Ballad of an Unsung Hero, and currently working on Frontier Jews and Sons of Guadalupe their Journey Home.
Artenstein has taught in the USC Production and Graduate Screenwriting Programs, and at UCSD he teaches directing, producing and screenwriting courses as well as History of Mexican and Latin American Cinemas
