This event is a parallel event of the U.N. Commission on the Status of Women and will take place in New York.

The Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice (IPJ) will present updates, insights and key concerns from the 2011 “Women, Media, Revolution” forum, which convened journalists, filmmakers and social media citizen activists engaged in the critical examination of women in conflict and how they are using their voices in a revolution against ongoing political and cultural violence. The panel will continue the discussion of how women and media can encourage alternative, inclusive solutions to democratic peacebuilding.

Panelists include:

  • Prue Clarke, award-winning reporter and founder of New Narratives: Women Reporting Africa
  • Jina Moore, correspondent for Christian Science Monitor and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting
  • Jennifer Pozner, founder and executive director of Women In Media & News
  • Jackee Batanda, 2011-2012 IWMF Elizabeth Neuffer Fellow and former IPJ peace writer
  • Kristen Fitzpatrick, public exhibition and acquisitions manager for Women Make Movies
  • Convened by IPJ Deputy Director Dee Aker, Program Officer Jennifer Freeman and Editor Kaitlin Barker Davis
