English Language Proficiency Requirements*

*International applicants only.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is mandatory for all applicants educated outside the United States. The test can be waived if English is your primary language or you have obtained a bachelor's degree from the U.S., Great Britain, Canada or Australia. Other exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

*F-1 International Students: Please note that USD is starting the MASI program in the academic year 2017/2018, and the University will initiate the application process with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to obtain the new program certification to issue the form I-20, Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 student visa. International applicants will be reviewed, however, an admission decision will not be issued until the program is approved by SEVP.  Fall 2018 will be the earliest term to enroll if the program has been approved by SEVP.

**International applicants who currently reside in the US as the dependents of the employment-based visa holders, such as L-2 or H4, are not restricted from joining the program for the 2017/2018 academic year if admission is granted.
