Documentary Films and Photography
Capturing conflict on a cell phone.
Student activists are using camera phones to do much more than take selfies. The rise of affordable mobile devices gives teens and young adults a platform to expose human right violations in their own backyards. They are the new wave of documentarians, rising up against the forced recruitment of child soldiers, deportation of immigrant youth and mass genocide. Our goal is to show the world why their low-cost, DIY photographs and films matter— helping everyone understand how alternative visual media enhances conversations about conflict, peace and justice.
