Preventing Violent Extremism

Challenging conventional approaches to preventing violent extremism.

Violence that spans the political, religious and ideological spectrum is an urgent and deepening crisis. And to stand up to this extremism requires innovative, alternative and gendered strategies that address the root causes. Women from our PeaceMakers Program are leading these efforts from Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Bosnia to Kenya, and beyond. In collaboration with leading partners, the Defying Extremism initiative was born to bring together diverse perspectives through an inaugural conference, regional dialogues, policy meetings and community conversations. Together, we're working on actionable solutions for preventing violent extremism and building resilient communities.
