Use of Wireless Telephones While Driving on University Property

Except as noted below, California Vehicle Code section 23123 shall apply to drivers of motor vehicles on University property.  Driving a motor vehicle on University property while using a wireless telephone is prohibited, unless the telephone is specifically designed and configured to allow hands-free listening and talking, and is used in that manner while driving.  This provision shall not apply to employees whose job responsibilities require that they use wireless telephones while driving motor vehicles on University property, or where a driver uses a wireless telephone for emergency purposes.
