Office of Parent Relations
Dear Parents and Families,
On behalf of the Office of Parent Relations, we would like to congratulate you on your student’s choice of the University of San Diego. You have entrusted your children to the special care, development and nurturing our institution offers. Over the next four years, the University of San Diego will become an integral part of your lives. We are here to offer support and direct you and your student to resources and maintain a positive relationship between you and the university. Please feel free to call our office with your questions or concerns. The office is in the Degheri Alumni Center, Suite 137. Our phone number is (619) 260-4808.
In addition to being a resource for you, the office has three main areas of responsibility. We help coordinate family-related events, on campus and regionally. Campus events include parent orientation during Torero Days, Family Weekend and Grandparents Weekend. Regional events include Summer Send Off receptions for new students and their parents and occasional special events.
The Office of Parent Relations also coordinates a national parent volunteer program. In areas where there is a significant enrollment of USD students, parents may volunteer to serve as goodwill ambassadors for the university by assisting with recruiting and admissions activities, development and regional events. The Office of Parent Relations also staffs the national Parents Association Board. The board meets three times each year and exists to ensure that the volunteer efforts and goals of parents coincide with the mission and goals of the university.
Our third area of responsibility is coordinating the fundraising effort for parents. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of a USD education. The university depends on contributions from parents, alumni and community friends to make up the difference. Fall and spring solicitations — which are followed up with student telefunding, as well as personal visits and solicitations from university administrators — are the primary focus of this effort.
We look forward to meeting you and your student at our next event!
Very truly yours,
