The Jenny Craig Pavilion (JCP), USD’s state-of-the-art athletics facility, opened in October 2000. The 101,000-square-foot, 5,100-seat arena is home to USD’s Division I basketball and volleyball teams, and serves a range of educational, cultural and athletic events. Within the JCP, the McNamara Fitness Center is open to all students. Hours during the academic year are Monday-Thursday, 7 AM -10 PM, Friday, 7 AM - 6 PM, Saturday, 10 AM - 5 PM and Sunday, 2-7 PM. In October 2007, USD celebrated the grand opening of the Missions Café and Fitness Center. This new three-story building houses a healthy choice café, exercise classroom, cardio floor, and resistance-training equipment. Each area offers state-of-the-art fitness equipment available to USD students, faculty and staff. The center offers fitness classes (Fitness & Active)and programs such as personal training and fitness classes, in conjunction with campus wellness departments. To meet the busy schedule of students the facility opens early in the morning and closes late at night. With its added outside patios and dining area, the building has become a hub of student activity. Campus Recreation offers a variety of programs to enhance every student’s collegiate experience and encourage a healthy lifestyle. These programs include more than 60 recreational/fitness classes each semester, intramural sports, fitness programs, 20+ sports clubs and numerous community building special events. Additionally there are off campus classes held at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center, Riverwalk golf course, the WaveHouse Athletic Club, and the Mission Bay beach area. Campus Recreation also operates the Sports Center complex, including a gymnasium, swimming pool and tennis courts. Within this complex is the Health and Fitness Annex that offers massage therapy, wellness workshops and injury rehabilitation & prevention therapy.
