Most general questions regarding financial aid can be answered on-line at www.sandiego.edu/financial_aid or through your student’s MySanDiego Portal (select the Financial Aid Channel on The One Stop Tab). Students are able to go to the One Stop Student Center (OSSC) (Room 126) in the Hahn University Center. The OSSC staff can answer many financial aid questions. They will refer your son or daughter to meet with a Financial Aid Counselor if they feel it is necessary.
Information and Guides are available at www.sandiego.edu/financial_aid. Deadlines are very important and should be met in order for a student to retain eligibility for any scholarship(s) or grant(s) s/he might have.
While most financial aid available through the university is based on financial need, there are many outside scholarship programs that are awarded based on criteria determined by the donor. Students are encouraged to check these scholarship postings often –either online or on display outside the Office of Financial Aid (Hughes Administration Center, Room 319). During the 2009/10 academic year, USD students received more than $3.4 million in outside scholarships to reduce their loans.
In order for any financial aid information to be given to a parent regarding his/her son or daughter, a USD Student Information Release Authorization must be signed by the student and be on file with the USD Office of the Registrar (the student must have checked the Financial Aid Information box on the form) www.sandiego.edu/registrar.
In order to cover the immediate cost of books and supplies at the beginning of
each semester, a student will need to bring money or credit card access for such expenses (approximately $800). Financial aid funds may not be available for expenses prior to the beginning of classes.
The OSSC provides specially trained counselors to help students with all business transactions of the financial aid, registrar, and student accounts offices. The One Stop gives students the opportunity to complete all of their business in one location and eliminate the need to visit other offices. The OSSC is located in the Hahn University Center room 126. In addition to being open five days a week 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the office is also open Wednesdays until 6 p.m. The OSSC is further available to students by appointment outside of regular hours. The Campus Card office and a branch of US Bank are adjacent to our office in the Hahn University Center. The One Stop team continually receives intense training not only in the functional areas mentioned above but also in customer service. They are committed to providing state-of-the-art services to students. Simple email inquiries can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Additionally, the OSSC maintains the One Stop Services tab on the MySanDiego student portal where a student can avoid waiting in line by doing their routine business transactions and inquiries via any personal computer 24/7. The portal account (http://my.sandiego.edu) is accessible from the USD home page and the One Stop website (www.sandiego.edu/onestop). All services on this tab have been designed to be student-friendly and include many of the functions listed above. Students and parents are highly encouraged to use the One Stop Services tab on the students portal to conduct all routine transactions so that counselors are available to discuss the more extensive issues as needed. The OSSC welcomes all suggestions to improve services on our One Stop tab and in our office.
The USD Office of Student Financial Services welcomes parents, students and friends of USD.
As a courtesy, billing statements are e-mailed at the beginning of each month; however,
students should not wait to receive a billing statement before remitting payment. Students
are expected to remit payment by the published payment deadline(s) whether or not they
receive a billing statement. The tuition payment deadline for the Fall 2011 term is August 24, 2011, and January 20, 2012 for the Spring 2011 term. Students may choose to complete the fee payment portion of registration conveniently by paying their student account online on the One Stop Services tab on the MySanDiego portal (http://my.sandiego.edu). Students may also pay the required tuition, fees, room and meal plan at the One Stop Student Center, Hahn University Center, Room 126. We encourage you to review the online student account on a regular basis to ensure compliance with USD payment policies and deadlines.
**IMPORTANT STUDENT BILLING NOTIFICATION**
USD will send an electronic billing notice via e-mail to students and parents/authorized-payers when the bill is ready to view and pay. Parents/authorized-payers can log in to view and pay their student’s most recent billing activity, including total amount due and payment options, at any time.
To see your student’s bill, you must be authorized by your student. In order to authorize parents or other individuals to access the student’s account, your student must login to their MySanDiego portal and assign an authorized-payer a username and password. When your student authorizes you as an online payer, s/he are also authorizing us to speak to you on the phone and in person about the student account.
