Torero Days Student Orientation

MOVE IN DAY
New freshman students begin their USD experience on move in day, August 27, 2011.  New transfer students begin their experience on Sunday, August 28, 2011Please refer to the Torero Days website (sandiego.edu/orientation) for the move in day schedules of activities for new students and parents. Programs for parents of new freshman will continue through Sunday morning, closing with a Mass for parents and students.  Programs for new transfer students will be held on Sunday afternoon.

TORERO DAYS
Freshman Students: Torero Days, one component of the First Year Experience, is designed to acquaint new students with all aspects of campus life prior to the beginning of classes. Because USD is committed to a holistic education, one that takes place inside and outside the classroom, students are introduced to all aspects of the campus, which will help them in their learning and overall development. All new students are expected to attend Torero Days.

By the end of Torero Days, new students should:

• Be familiar with the University’s mission and core values.
• Transition academically and personally to campus life at USD and to the City of San Diego.
• Establish meaningful relationships with members of the University community.
• Feel University of San Diego pride.

Transfer Students: Programs and events designed for transfer students are on Sunday August 28 and Monday August 29, 2011.  Transfer students are divided into small groups with other transfer students. These transfer groups are led by a returning student who also transferred to USD. The schedule will include academic, resource and social programs specifically designed for transfer students. Each experience will assist transfer students in their process of orienting to USD values, processes and people.
