Torero Countdown

Information for Families of First-Year Students

The Torero Countdown is USD's comprehensive first-year orientation program. The Torero Countdown begins May 1 and continues through the summer until classes begin on September 2, 2015. The Torero Countdown includes a checklist that must be met prior to your student's arrival to USD. Please check back for the parent/family OLÉ! Weekend and Transfer Fall Orientation schedules.

OLÉ! Weekend for First-Year Families is August 29-30, 2015

OLÉ! Weekend (Orientation Launch Events) serves as an introduction to learn about various resources and opportunities available to you and your student. The goal is to equip you with information to better support your student with their transition to USD. Families of new students participate in a separate program that runs concurrently with the students' OLÉ! Weekend. Families participate in informational sessions and activities to learn about the overall culture of USD. Please plan to join us, August 29-30, 2015! 

MOVE-IN SCHEDULE
One the Move-In schedule is available it will include details of when your student is scheduled to arrive on campus to check into their assigned residence hall. The document will also provide instructions for printing a parking pass designated for move-in only. 

WELCOME FESTIVITIES INFORMATION
Tickets to OLÉ! Weekend Welcome Festivities are required for families and guests of new students. Tickets are NOT required for new students. The online registration will go live early May.  Please check back to register. Note: There is a separate registration for first-year students to confirm their attendance.

Information for Families of Transfer Students

Transfer Summer Registration Day: June 19, July 7, July 24 and August 7

Transfer students are invited to attend a Transfer Summer Registration Day to learn about the transferring process, meet with their academic advisor and learn how to register for courses.  Details will be emailed directly to your student. There is a family program to the day; an opportunity to get to know the campus, meet families and assist your student with the transferring process. Families will be invited to the same Transfer Summer Registration day that their transfer student is attending. Please make sure to coordinate with your transfer student when they submit their availability. Feel free to check out the family program sample schedule

Transfer Fall Orientation for Families is August 29-30, 2015

Transfer Fall Orientation is specifically designed for new transfer students. The program provides essential information for a smooth transition into the USD community. View the student fall schedule. Families are encouraged to help their student move into their residence hall or, as commuters, help them get situated; meet families of transfer students, particularly during the Welcome Festivities, and participate in informational sessions.
