Continuing Education and Advanced Courses

The Alumni Association, in collaboration with the USD Paralegal Program, offers continuing education seminars, workshops, and courses that members may take at discounted prices. We are pleased to have approval from the State Bar of California to offer MCLE (Mandatory Continuing Legal Education)* credit at many of our seminars.


Section 6450 (d) of the Business and Professional Code that pertains to the continuing education requirements for paralegals requires that paralegals have four (4) hours of mandatory continuing legal education in legal ethics every two years and four (4) hours of mandatory continuing legal education in general law or an area of specialized law every two years.

Pablo C. Palomino is the Principal and Founder of Legacy, APC. His primary areas of practice are trusts and estates.  He graduated with double majors in Economics and Rhetoric from the University of California at Berkeley and received his JD from the University of Southern California. Mr. Palomino has conducted many seminars and workshops in collaboration with institutions such as Northwestern Mutual, New York Life, Union Bank, HSBC Bank, and First California Bank. Additionally, he is a regular guest lecturer for Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He frequently speaks to senior groups on the topic of “Preventing Senior Financial Abuse” and regularly conducts training sessions for Adult Protective Services.

This course will define the documents that make up an estate plan, the process of trust administration, and how assets are gathered and ultimately distributed. Further, the instructor will give basics on how assets are valued in a trust and provide an introduction to probate proceedings. What is post-mortem estate planning?  What tax related decisions are involved in trust planning?
