This was my first time backpacking and I LOVED it. I can't wait to sign up for the next OA trip! – participant

Course Description

Learn the basic skills of backpacking! Explore the southern Sierra Nevada mountains and camp at a high alpine lake above 9,000 feet. Travel to an area that has an abundance of great intermediate weekend backpacking trails; all no more than 6 to 10 miles in length. Enjoy spectacular views of rugged peaks and beautiful alpine lakes. At this time of year there are very few visitors and the stars are amazing. The challenges of these hikes are rewarded by the experience of clean lakes, clean air, and picturesque scenery. This may be one of your most memorable classes yet!

You must have an active health insurance policy and you will be required to complete a health statement/liability waiver. If you are under 18, please notify a staff member before you sign up.
