USD’s Outdoor Adventures will be offering a Transfer Pre-Orientation Adventure for new transfer students for the first time this year. This unique trip is designed to give you an opportunity to get a head start in transitioning to USD. You will get to know other new transfers and learn tips and strategies from transfer student leaders that were in your situation just a short while ago in a beautiful outdoor setting.
The Transfer Pre-Orientation Adventure will take place in the Laguna Mountains, just 90 minutes, but a world away, from the USD campus. You will spend three nights camping in tents at a national forest campground and hiking a section of the Pacific Crest Trail – a national treasure that traverses the west coast from Mexico to Canada. We will only hike a small fraction of the 2,650 mile trail during our outing, but will surely find a uniquely western scene that will rejuvenate, inspire and even surprise. We will hike through chaparral, scrub oaks and pines to the rim of the Jeffrey pine-shaded Laguna Mountains. Look forward to expansive views of Anza-Borrego State Park to the east, San Diego County, and even the Pacific Ocean to the west!
By the time you return to campus for Transfer Fall Orientation, you will already have a group of friends, connections to transfer student leaders and USD staff, and be well on your way to making a successful transition to USD.
