Detailed Spring Orientation Schedule 2013

Below is the detailed schedule for the Spring 2013 Orientation program. Please note - some of the details, times, and locations are subject to change. This schedule will be finalized in January 2013.

Resident Student Check-In

Mission Crossroads New resident students may check in between 9:00am-2:00pm in the Housing Office located in the Mission Crossroads building.
11:00am-1:00pm Resident Student Lunch TBD  
1:00-3:00pm Commuter Student Check-In MRH Sala (lobby) Orientation check in for all new students that will be commuting to campus (not living on campus).
Suggested Errand Time USD Campus Take care of any campus errands you need to complete during this open time. Suggested errands include paying your bill, getting your campus ID card, finding your classrooms, buying your textbooks, and buying your Night on the Town ticket.
Orientation Information Table MRH Sala Spring Orientation student leaders will be available to answer any questions you may have, including where to find any of the above mentioned errand locations.
1:00-4:00pm Parent & Family Meeting and Reception Degheri Alumni Center 120 Meet the Office of Parent Relations staff and other university administrators as they share their insights about USD and suggets how to effectively support your student's educational experience.
2:00-3:00pm Business Student Orientation Olin Hall 229 For incoming business students only. Learn about the Passport Program, resources, and organizations that will be beneficial to you as a business student at USD.
3:00-4:30pm Small Group Meeting & Tour MRH 116 (Warren Auditorium) For all new students. Hear form continuing students about their experience at USD and connect with other new students in a small group setting.
5:00-7:00pm Resident Student Dinner TBD Learn more about living on campus, and meet your fellow residents, Resident Director, Resident Minister, and Resident Faculty specific to your area of campus.
Commuter Student Dinner TBD Meet other commuter students in this fun, social setting, and learn about campus resources designed specifically for commuters.
7:00pm BIG FUN Event Mission Crossroads For all new students. Enjoy a fun night out with fellow new students!

Learn how to navigate USD and avoid pitfalls specific to the freshman student experience.
Nuts & Bolts of the TRANSFER Transition

Learn how to navigate USD and avoid pitfalls specific to the transfer student experience.

Mandatory Meeting: All International Students

If you are an International Student you must attend this session. Learn how to transition successfully to the USD college environment and hear about important resources that can support your success.
Mandatory Meeting: Financial Aid

If you receive Financial Aid you must attend this session. Find out what you need to know about applying, receiving, and reapplying for Financial Aid. Questions about scholarships, grants, student employment, and college loans will be answered.
Mandatory Meeting: Veteran & Active Duty Students (FAQs and Financial Aid)

If you are a veteran or active duty student you must attend this session. Meet key administrations and current Veteran/Active Duty students who are aware of your needs and challenges as a Veteran or Active Duty student. They will serve as resources and be available to answer your questions.
Non-Financial Aid Students: Errand Time
USD Campus
If you are not an International Student, Veteran/Active Duty Student, and do not receive financial aid, please use this time to explore the campus and take care of errands.

Learn about the unique values of USD, what it means to be a member of the USD community, and find out about cmapus resources that will help you with your transition.
