USD Spring Orientation 2010
Welcome to the University of San Diego! We are writing to inform you about the Spring 2010 Orientation, the schedule for which is enclosed. This program is designed to help you in planning your college career and to put you in touch with the services and people who can make your experience at USD a profitable and enjoyable one. The following is information important to your arrival at USD.
On Thursday starting at Noon, Orientation Check-in will begin at the Missions Crossroads building. The afternoon will be filled with social meetings and a dinner for all new students. On Thursday evening, after the dinner meetings, a game night has been planned to give you the opportunity to meet and socialize with new and continuing students in a casual setting.
On Friday, Januar 22 Orientation activities and workshops begin at 8:30 AM in the University Center Forum B. Late orientation check-in will take place at the Orientation information table located outside of the University Center from 7:45 AM to 8:30 AM. A continental breakfast will be available for commuter students beginning at 8:00 AM in Forum B. Resident students are encouraged to eat breakfast in the Student Life Paviliion. The formal part of the proram, beginning at 8:30 AM, will provide all students with information regarding advisement and registration, as well as a variety of campus services and activities. After the morning session, you will have the opportunity to attend our "Getting Involved & Resource Fair." Over 15 campus departments will provide information about leadership activities and campus resources. From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM we have scheduled the New Student Luncheon where you will be able to mingle with fellow students, staff and faculty. The luncheon will take place in Frank's Lounge, one of our newest social venues on campus. During the school year, Frank's Lounge features billiards tournaments, big screen TVs and a snack bar. Immediately following the luncheon, there are sessions on topics relating to making healthy choices in college and learning in a diverse community.
Along with the formal sessions, the Spring Orientation Board has planned a number of social activities in order to give you the chance to continue getting to know other students as well as getting acquainted with San Diego. On Friday eveing, ther ewill be a dinner social at a local San Diego venue (more details to come). On Saturday afternoon, the Board plans an additional daytime social. Past activities have included beach BBQs, laser tag, and lunch at In N' Out. The Friday and Saturday socials havve a small ticket fee of $5 each - which are well worth the fun you'll have and the connections you'll make with other new and continuing students.
We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the USD family.
