Move-In Information

Move-In Times and Instructions:

Residential move-in for First-Year Students will take place during OLÉ! Weekend on Friday, August 31. Transfers will move in Saturday, September 1. In order to ensure a safe and efficient move-in process, we have designed a move-in schedule and procedure for each residential area. For more information about the move-in process or housing, please visit the Residential Life website. More information will be available later in the summer.

Families and supporters are welcomed and encouraged to attend move-in! There is ample free time built into the schedule on both Friday and Saturday for errands, and we strive to ensure you have time to feel settled in!

The USD First-Year Student Arrival Guide with specific instructions for each residence hall will be posted later in the summer. Please stay tuned!

What to Bring:

Residential Life created a quick list of things to consider bringing with you as you transition to the University of San Diego. This list is a good place to start, but we also suggest you connect with your roommate if possible to see what items you can share!

Can I Mail My Belongings?:

Many students wish to mail some belongings ahead of time. The USD Mail Center will help facilitate the package pick-up times for belongings mailed over the summer. Mailing addresses are dependent on housing assignments and will be sent out later in the summer. Please contact the Mail Center with specific questions about package restrictions, delivery, and addresses. If you are attending a Pre-Orientation experience the week before orientation, please connect with Outdoor Adventures or University Ministry for mailing needs.

The Mail Center will be open the following times during orientation weekend:

  • Friday, August 31: 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Saturday, September 1: 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Sunday, September 2: 1:00pm-4:00pm
  • Monday, September 3 (Labor Day): Closed
