To be eligible for a waiver of USD's health insurance requirement for international students, student must already be covered by an insurance plan that has the following features:

• Be in effect throughout the semester and renewable  for continuous coverage
• Have a minimum dollar coverage of $100,000 per illness or injury
• Include outpatient care (doctor visits, outpatient surgery, etc.)
• Include hospitalization
• Repatriation for at least $10,000
• Medical evacuation for at least $25,000

Please note:

Without reviewing and approving your alternative health insurance coverage every year, the University cannot waive the fee and you must pay the insurance premium along with your tuition.

Online Waiver

To access the online waiver, please follow these steps:

1. Gather all your insurance documents -- you will need this information to fill out the online waiver
2. Visit this link to set-up an account with Gallagher-Koster (note: you will need your USD ID number to set up your account)
3. Click on "Student Waiver Form on the left side panel and fill out personal information to create an account
4. Click on "Student Waiver Form" again and delect Waiver Form
5. Answer all questions and click submit to turn in your waiver
6. Print Confirmation Page quickly
7. Once you complete the online waiver and we receive a report, the insurance charges on your student account will be reversed (this will happen once you register)
