Dream job after college: I am currently applying to medical school.. Cross your fingers for me!

Why did you join the guide program: At Sun, Surf & Volley during my first weekend in San Diego, some guides that were running the program really encouraged me. They dropped a hotdog on the ground and tried to make me eat it anyway. They tipped over my kayak while they were teaching me to use one in the ocean. All in all they seemed like a really fun group of people, so I wanted to get involved. I am so glad I did because I learned a lot about the outdoors and myself, and I made some really great friends!

I am adventurous because….. The world is so beautiful and has so much to offer. I want to see, taste, touch, smell, hear, and love as much as I can while I am here!

Favorite trip/outdoor activity: As I grew up just outside of Lake Tahoe, snowboarding will always have a special place in my heart. In San Diego, my favorite trip to lead is mud caving!

Favorite National Park: Yosemite or Big Sur

Favorite outdoor location in San Diego: Sunset Cliffs is the best place to watch a sunset, have a picnic, or go for a walk!

Favorite place to hang out on campus: Any lawn.. They provide good people watching and, when they are dry, a comfy place to hang out.

Weirdest outdoor food you have created and/or ate: You can do some special things with a tortilla……

Craziest trip experience: My most recent adventure was a trip into the Moroccan desert. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. We rode camels out into the sand where we slept under the stars, sang, danced and drummed around a camp fire, and swam in an oasis! When I watched the sun rise over the sand dunes, I knew I didn’t want to stop having adventures all over the world until the day I die.

Worst injury from an outdoor trip: A scratch or bruise here and there... Once I got to use my WFR skills to put a Bandaid on someone’s elbow!

If you could go one place in the world where would you go: I would really like to go to India or South America next.

Funniest outdoor trip experience: Spending a week in pouring rain without all the necessary supplies, cooking in the kitchens of random rock climbing instructors, building a shelter out of rocks and tarp, exploring the depths of Wal-Mart, making quesadillas under the overhang of a glass repair shop after a snowball fight mishap, bonding with amazing friends… Sounds like guide training to me!

What is something no one else knows about you: I hate the smell of eggs (so sulfuric!) and the texture of raisons (why waste a grape?!).

What certifications and trainings do you have: WFR, LNT, Health Responder CPR

Favorite piece of outdoor gear: A Nalgene! It’s always important to stay hydrated while adventuring, plus if you are cold at night you can fill up your bottle with hot water and cuddle it!Five things you wish you knew prior to starting college:

  • If you spend 2 hours a day on any website (ahem, facebook..), then by the end of the year you will have spent 1 month of your life on that website. That is not how I want to spend my life.
  • On average, people fear spiders more than they do death.
  • By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you can't sink in quicksand.
  • You will probably never actually need to know how to write in cursive.
  • Mosquito repellents don't repel. They hide you. The spray blocks the mosquito's sensors so they don't know you're there.
