emmaName: Emma Dunn
Year: Senior
Hometown: Folsom, CA
Major: International Relations

Dream job after college: owning a hostel in South America

Why did you join the guide program: to go on awesome trips for free

I am adventurous because I am not afraid to explore new places and try new things.

Favorite trip/outdoor activity: snowboarding at Big Bear, or anywhere for that matter

Favorite National Park: the Grand Canyon, actually Dinosaur National Park

Favorite outdoor location in San Diego: Sunset cliffs in ocean beach

Favorite place to hang out on campus: napping in the commuter lounge

Weirdest outdoor food you have created and/or ate: taco s’mores, or smacos, was pretty weird

Craziest trip experience: digging the van out of a sand bank in the Anza Borrego desert

Worst injury from an outdoor trip: blisters

If you could go one place in the world where would you go: that’s tough… my next planned trip is to Colombia and Ecuador so I guess there or the Thai coast.

Funniest outdoor trip experience: it wasn’t very funny at the time but when Andrew threw a snowball at Brett and it missed and broke the van window

What is something no one else knows about you: I have a huge crush on Che Guevara

What certifications and trainings do you have: Class B, lifeguard, LNT

Favorite piece of outdoor gear: My ExOfficio underwear!

Five things you wish you knew prior to starting college:

  • get out of your meal plan as soon as possible
  • explore every part of San Diego from the beginning...4 years goes by fast
  • only shop at buffalo exchange
  • don’t only get involved with a lot of clubs and organizations but commit to them
  • turn off the t.v.!
