Why did you join the guide program? I had a lot of fun at Pre-O and thought it would be a good way to get involved on campus

I am adventurous because…I love to try new things. I do not turn down an offer to try something often

Favorite trip/outdoor activity: Mudcaving

Favorite National Park: Yellowstone

Favorite outdoor location in San Diego: The Mountains

Favorite place to hang out on campus: SLP when dinners with friends can reach 2 hours. For solitude, IPJ is the place to go

Weirdest food you have created and/or ate: Smoked oysters at 6 am

Craziest trip experience: When my kayak paddle broke in half while trying to make it through the waves

Worst injury from an outdoor trip: Not much worse than wind burn!

If you could go one place in the world where would you go? Antarctica- because its obscure!

Funniest outdoor trip experience: Letting go of both ends of the throw rope

What is one thing people don’t know about you? I actually like Rebecca Black’s “It’s Friday”

What certifications and trainings do you have: Wilderness First Responder and Class B Driver

Favorite piece of outdoor gear: Dutch ovens= yummy food!

What are five things you wish you knew prior to starting college?

  • Homework expectations may be lighter than high school, but you do earn your grade
  • It wont necessarily is as great as everyone tells you it should be. It can be tough your first year
  • What could get you an A in high school, will get you a B in college, in my experience
  • Sitting in the front of class is a better decision. You can see and hear better, participate more easily, and therefore get better grades
