The University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science: Beyster Institute for Nursing Research was pleased to partner with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) for an exciting pre-conference to the AACN Doctoral Education Conference, January 18, 2017 in San Diego.
This daylong conference on the beautiful USD campus provided an overview of the state-of-the-science in palliative care, how it is being taught in doctoral programs, and strategies for community outreach.
Nursing faculty and administrators from across the country attended the conference. Key Speakers included:
Betty Ferrell, PhD, MA, FAA.N, Director and Professor, Nursing Research and Education, City of Hope addressed the State of the Science in Palliative Care Research.
Lucia Wocial, PhD, RN, FAAN, Indiana University Health and Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics, Nurse Ethicist and Project Director for the Woltman Inter-professional Communication Scholars Program, Indiana University provided an overview of Innovations in Community Outreach.
Pam Malloy, RN, MSN. Director and Co-investigator of the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium, presented Competencies and Guidelines for Undergraduate Nursing Programs: Caring for the Nation’s Seriously Ill and Their Families.
