Rekarda R. Devere, MEd, BSN, RN, was appointed clinical placement coordinator in 2012. Prior to her appointment, she was employed at USD as part-time clinical faculty in the Simulation and Standardized Patient Nursing Laboratory and part-time at San Diego Unified School District as a Registered Credentialed School Nurse. She was the recipient of the “School Nurse of the Year” award in 2011. Rekarda has extensive clinical experience in critical care nursing of adults and neonates. She has nursing management background and oversaw all aspects of nursing care at Scripps Green Hospital radiology department. Her responsibilities included interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, CAT scan, and magnetic resonance imaging areas.

Her career includes pharmaceutical sales to the major hospital systems and individual hospitals in the San Diego area. In this capacity she also served as a field sales trainer, participated on a new product marketing launch team, and managed corporate contracts. Twice she was recognized as the “Presidents Cup Award” winner for the highest sales in the west region while employed by Nycomed Amersham, based in Princeton, New Jersey.

Rekarda is a member of the National School Nurses Association and their daughter organization, the California School Nurse Association. She is a member of the national nursing honorary society Sigma Theta Tau. Her civic involvement focuses on volunteering at her two sons’ schools and with the California Coastal Clean Up committee. She is also an active member of her parish, Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in La Jolla.
